Thursday news & another attack

Wow it has been a scorcher!

It has been a little while since I have written anything. Sorry about that! Just not a whole lot of news & I had not gotten out for pictures.

A couple of nights ago we had another attack on the chickens. This time we think it was a raccoon or opossum. This weekend we will work to strengthen the coop. Soon it will be a fortress! In the attack we lost Gladys the nosy chicken, a bard rock and another of the americaunas. 3 more chickens dead! DRAT! I think we are down to 10 now.

This was my surprise today. I was not sure exactly what kind of plant it was. Pup surprised me with it a year or so ago. I didn't realize it would even bloom! Today it has this gorgeous bloom on it and several more buds.

A couple of good friends informed me it is a Swamp Hibiscus.

The buds. I can't wait for them to bloom in the next few days!

The kittens are crazy! Still no names for them.

The blue eyed babies.

Tomorrow is Friday! Hellz Yeah!

Nice day today. So glad the weekend is almost here. A little rain here and there. Good for the plants and the heat.

Spent some time out on the deck when I got home and grabbed a few pictures.

One of the Bougainvillea

The Hibiscus in all of its' glory. It is kind of amazing the number of magnificent blooms it provides us.

Notice all the blooms that are in various stages of opening in the days to come.

Up close and personal.

Topper striking a pose.

Another Bougainvillea in dark pink.

The Cherry Tomatoes. This little bush is loaded with them!

I haven't been out to the chickens today. Pup said they were starving as usual. They are getting fat and sassy and probably need their wings clipped again soon. I have seen them practicing flight patterns and planning their escape.

I am ready for eggs! When will they start laying??!! mmmmmmm Fresh eggs dammit. Soon.

Wednesday

Got home from work and went out to feed the chicks. They were starving. (of course) I did get a few pics while out there though. So here they are!

The kittens were in battle mode on the couch.

They both have blue eyes. Do kittens eyes change color or will they stay this blue?

Gavin is spending the night and leaving in the morning for a vacation with Lauren & Joe. Miami then Texas for about a month. I will miss them while they are gone but this will be good for them.

Trey and Ashley found out today that they are having a girl. So happy for them and can't wait to meet my new Granddaughter, Aubrey. Exciting news!

Tuesday

It has been a good day. Sunny and oh so hot.

We got a couple of new additions this weekend. Kittens! They will end up being barn cats to help keep the rodents/snakes down around the house. Right now however they are barely 6 weeks old. Tiny terrors.

No names as of yet. We are waiting to see personalities before picking names.

The Sunflowers are blooming!

Pup and I made a trip to pick up his bike and stopped and ate lunch at The Shed.

The shed is too sparkly to get any good pictures!

The chicks are doing fine. Getting fat and sassy! The pics I took just didn't turn out very well though so I'll try and get better ones tomorrow and post them.

Thank you for all that you do Puppy. I love you!

Saturday Morning

Woke up fairly early and it is beautiful outside.

I forgot to mention that our bathroom decided to overflow this morning. All over the bedroom and into the kitchen. So glad we have brick & tile floors! LOL Thank you Puppy for buying a shop vac a couple of weeks ago! You are awesome!

We are also getting a  new A/C unit put in! YAY! Since the main part of the house has been without for about a year now this is awesome, spectacular news!!

The Hibiscus close up every night and open back up in the morning or is it new ones every day? I'm not sure but they open so fast you can almost watch them doing it.

They brighten my mornings and days.

I might need to invest in some more in various colors!

We went out and fed the chicks and got a few close ups of them.

Gladys the nosy neighbor.
